Fairy Dust, Pt. 2

“Yikes! Lady A. is home early!” gasped Aileen. Adelina was already shoving the cards back into the folder, and cramming it into the bookshelf. The front door opened, and they heard voices coming from the hallway.
“What are we going to do?” whispered Adelina to Aileen. “We are not supposed to be in here!” Instead of answering, Aileen grabbed Adelina’s hand, and closed her eyes.
“Aileen! What are you doing?” Whispered Adelina franticly. She heard the voices coming towards the library, in a minute they would be here! Aileen opened her eyes and blew a puff of fairy dust onto the wall. She leapt into the wall, dragging Adelina after her. Adelina felt as if her entire body had dissolved into nothing, and opened her eyes. A blurry image of the library was in front of her, and she felt very peculiar. Turning her head, she saw Aileen next to her, but it was more of a shiny mirage than her actual sister. Adelina then realized what was going on; Aileen had dissolved them into the wall! She looked over at Aileen, about to congratulate her, but Aileen had a finger to her lips. She shook her head, and pointed gently in the direction of the library, for there sat Lady Amber and her guests drinking tea! Adelina quickly stifled a gasp; she hadn’t realized they were here! They seemed to be saying something, but she couldn’t hear a thing. Pausing for a minute, she shook her head, and a pile of fairy dust fell out of her ear.
“I am so glad you two gentlemen could come! We haven’t talked for quite some time.” Lady Amber’s voice rang out loud and clear into the wall.
“Indeed, there is much to talk about.” Said the fairy closest to Adelina. “But are you sure that no one else is here?” Adelina shifted uneasily; there was something sinister in the way he said that.
“Quite sure, I gave my servants plenty of time to clean up the house before we arrived, no one will be here.”
“Very well, let us begin.” Said the other fairy sitting by the door. “The King and Queen will be visiting a neighboring forest tomorrow, and a majority of the royal guards will be accompanying them, leaving the palace with little protection.” Adelina was shocked, what were they talking about? She turned to Aileen, and saw that she had turned very pale.
“Once everyone has left,” continued the fairy, “half of our followers will storm the castle with the initial attack, and the other half will sneak in from the behind while the guards are busy. They will capture anyone in the castle who resists them, and assist the first group in subduing the guards. Any questions?” The fairy paused to catch his breath, and looked round the room. Lady Amber stood up.
“Well Randolph, it sounds as if it would work, but will 400 fairies really be enough to take the castle? And what about when the King and Queen return?”
“Never worry, I have that all figured out.” Smiled Randolph. “The young prince and princess are not going on the trip, and will remain here in Pixie Palace. The King and Queen will gladly restrain from fight once their precious children are at risk…what was that?” Randolph turned sharply in the direction of the wall where Adelina and Aileen were hiding.
Adelina quickly covered her mouth, but she wasn’t fast enough. After hearing Randolph talk about the royal children that way, she couldn’t help but gasp. Frozen in fear, she grabbed Aileen’s hand, and watched as Randolph looked around the room.
“What on earth are you talking about?” Asked Lady Amber, in response to Randolph’s odd behavior.
“I thought I heard something. Are you SURE there is no one here?” Lady Amber faltered under his frosty glare. “I assure you, we are alone. And even if anyone was still here, I put up an eavesdropping spell on this room today, so that no one outside can hear anything we say.” If it hadn’t of been for the tense situation, Adelina would have laughed, they were not outside of the room, and they could hear everything! Randolph wasn’t convinced however, and he decided it would be best if they were finished talking for the night. They all rose from their chairs, and walked out of the room. Lady Amber turned off the light, and the two girls were left in semi-darkness.

What will happen to Adelina and Aileen?

Will they get out of the wall?

Will they stop Lady Amber?

Tune in next time to find out!
