Delay :(

This post isn't really neccescary, considering I have .002 veiwers, but oh well.

There is an unavoidable delay concerning the finale of "Fairy Dust". Sadly, the computer that contains the final portion of this story has crashed, and is not working.

There is no telling how long the delay will be. It depends on how long it takes my dad to fix said computer.

I may just rewrite the last part, since the original ending is really lame.

If you have an opinion, please share!

Fairy Dust, Pt. 6

“Who is it?” Asked a bored voice from inside.
“Fremont, open up! It’s me, Faylinn!” Ordered Faylinn. The door creaked open, and the girls rushed inside. Fremont was sitting on his large canopy bed reading a book, but put it down once the girls entered.
“Fay, what do you want?” Grumbled Fremont.
“Adelina and…excuse me, what is your name? Ok, Adelina and Aileen here overheard a plot to overthrow the kingdom when mother and father leave tomorrow! They came and tried to warn them, but they got locked up by a traitor and then they had to send a temporary courier to find me, and I unlocked them but father wouldn’t listen to us and so we came to find you so you could convince father not to go!” Faylinn stopped to catch her breath, and then looked at Fremont expectantly. He was staring at Adelina and Aileen very hard.
“Is this true?” He asked. “Did you two really hear about someone trying to take over the kingdom?”
“Yes, you see we used a spell to dissolve into a wall right before Lady Amber and her guests came in, for you see we weren’t supposed to be fooling around in her library, and while we were there we-” Babbled Aileen, but Fremont stopped her.
“Do you mean to say that Lady Amber is plotting against us?” Demanded Fremont.
“Well, um…yes, I guess I do.” Said Aileen, confused.
“Father must be warned at once! If Lady Amber gets control over the kingdom, there is no telling what might happen!” Said Fremont worriedly, and he led them to the throne room. The King instantly lighted up at the sight of his only son.
“What is it you want Fremont?” He asked cheerfully.
“Father, I think you should listen to what these girls have to say.” The King looked startled; obviously he hadn’t excepted this at all.
“Oh very well, what is it you want Faylinn?” Asked the King unenthusiastically. Faylinn smiled, and nudged Adelina forward. Adelina swallowed nervously, and told the king all she knew. She told him about when she and Aileen had had overheard the plans, and how they had hurried to tell him. She explained how the guard had tricked them into the prison, and how Faylinn had rescued them. Aileen chimed in every now and then, and when they at last finished, the King looked very thoughtful.
“Are you telling the truth?” He asked sternly.
“Oh sire, do you think we would really make all this up?” Cried Aileen, rather indignantly, but the king did not seem to notice. After several minutes, he stood up, and motioned to one of his servants, who had been standing in shock nearby.
“Bernard, Summon Lady Amber at once!” He ordered.
“Yes sire.” Said Bernard, and hurried out the door. After he was gone, the king began questioning the girls about their information.
“Are you SURE about that?” He would ask again and again.
“Yes sire, absolutely.” Adelina or Aileen would sigh. This continued for quite some time, as it grew later and later. At last, when Adelina felt she couldn’t keep her eyes open any longer, in walked Bernard with his hand on Lady Amber’s shoulder. The two sisters quickly backed off behind Faylinn and Fremont, hoping Lady A. hadn’t noticed them. Fortunately, she didn’t even glance in the royal children’s direction, but kept her eyes on the King.
“Sire,” Her icy voice cut the silence, “I demand to know the reason for me being brought here at this hour.” Aileen nudged Adelina, and pointed to Lady Amber’s feet, which were clothed in two fluffy slippers.
“If you must know, it is because I am putting you under arrest.” Stated the King matter-of-factly. Ignoring her gasp of horror and dismay, he continued.
“I have good reason to believe that an uprising against the kingdom is to occur after my wife I and leave tomorrow, and that the uprising is being led by you.”
“What? I would never ever dare to betray your lordships most noble throne, why you know as well as I do that I have been faithful to you and your wife for-”“Enough, it is useless to grovel. I have two witnesses who heard all your plans earlier this evening. In fact, I do believe that they used to work for you.” The King pointed to the sisters. Lady Amber’s eyes opened very wide in surprise and anger. She started to say something, but stopped in defeat. The King smiled, and ordered Bernard to lock Lady Amber in one of the most heavily guarded cells.

Fairy Dust, Pt. 5

“Adelina, I think I hear someone!” Exclaimed Aileen several minutes later. They both hopped up and peered anxiously through the window. Sure enough, down the passage hurried a young girl accompanied with the courier. And in her hand was a ring of keys.
“Hello? Are you the two girls that got locked up?” Asked the girl once she reached the door.
“Yes, yes it’s us! Please let us out!” Called Adelina. Surprisingly, the girl seemed to hear her, and unlocked the door. Aileen burst out and smothered her in hugs.
“Thank you thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU!!” She exclaimed over and over again. Rather embarrassed, the girl managed to squirm free.
“How could you hear us?” Asked Adelina once Aileen had quieted down.
“All the prison cell silence spells don’t begin till a few feet away from the door.” She replied. “Otherwise, how would we know if people are in them or not? Anyways, my name is Faylinn, how do you do, and how did you come to be locked up in there?”
“Faylinn?” Gasped Aileen. “Then you’re the king’s daughter!”
“Well, yes.” Admitted Faylinn. “And who are you?”
“The information we bring is much more important than our names…would you please show us to your father?” Asked Adelina. Faylinn nodded and together they hurried out of the passage. As they walked, Aileen gave Faylinn a brief summary of what was going on, and the urgency of the situation. Once Faylinn heard the bad news, she urged the sisters on even faster. Adelina noticed that the courier’s glow was much fainter, and guessed its life was almost over. Just as they approached the throne room, the courier glittered and disappeared into a pile of dust on the floor. With no time to clean up, Faylinn rushed them into the room, and into the presence of the King!
The King was sitting on a large lavish throne at the opposite end of the room. He was in the process of dictating a packing list, but stopped once the girls entered.
“Hello Fay, who do you have here?” He asked, frowning slightly at the sisters. Adelina blushed, both her and Aileen’s simple dresses were smudged and torn and their dainty shoes were dreadfully scuffed.
“I don’t really have much time today,” He continued, “so why don’t you go play somewhere else?” The King motioned to one of his guards to usher the girls out.
“But father, we have something very important to tell you!” protested Faylinn.
“Yes of course you do, but right now I am very busy preparing for my trip. It is getting late, so why don’t you tell me in the morning?” He yawned and motioned to a large ornate clock on the wall. Adelina gasped in surprise, it was ten o’clock at night! They had been trapped in the prison longer than she thought. Her attention soon turned however to the large guard coming towards them.
“Father please, we need to talk to you right now!” Insisted Faylinn as the guard grabbed her hand and began leading them out. Adelina wanted to help, but she knew that if she or Aileen spoke back to the King, it could bring no good.
“Good night Fay! I will be sure to see you in the morning before your mother and I leave.” The king turned his attention back to the packing list, and the doors closed.
“Why oh why doesn’t father ever listen to me?” Moaned Faylinn. The three girls stood in Faylinn’s bedroom, wondering what they should do next.
“Maybe your mother would listen?” Suggested Aileen.
“She wouldn’t. She thinks I am too young and silly to believe anything I say. And she sure wouldn’t pay any attention to you two either.”
“Couldn’t we tell one of the guards?” Proposed Adelina. “Surely the King- I mean your dad would listen to an official report from a guard.”
“Well, that might work…” Considered Faylinn.
“But Adelina, we don’t know which guards are planning the treason, and which ones aren’t! Objected Aileen. “For all we know, there are hundreds of them plotting against your parents backs right here in the palace!” A gloom fell over the group. At last Faylinn spoke.
“I know one person Father would listen to.” She said quietly.
“Who!?!” Asked Adelina and Aileen.
“My brother. Father thinks the world of him, and would listen to anything he says.”
“Then let’s go and find him!” Exclaimed Aileen. They rushed out of Faylinn’s room and soon where knocking on his door.

What will happen to the three girls?

Fairy Dust, Pt. 4

“What’s wrong Aileen, why didn’t the spell work?” Asked Adelina. Aileen put her hand on the door again, and held it there for few seconds before answering.
“There must be a spell preventing prisoners from escaping with magic.” She said at last.
“Oh no…there must be dozens of spells on this room, or else they wouldn’t use it as a prison.” Groaned Adelina.
“But we HAVE to get out and warn the King!” Cried Aileen, and she began to pace around the room.
“Do you think anyone would hear us if we yelled really hard?” She asked at length.
“I doubt it. There is probably a silence spell or something to prevent prisoners from being annoying. And even if there isn’t, I don’t think anyone would hear us from way down here.”
“I am sure that someone will come down here sooner or later, so we need to think of a way to attract their attention.” Declared Aileen adamantly.
The two sisters thought, and thought, and thought. But everything they thought of just wouldn’t work. Their magic was still developing, allowing only for the simplest of things, and it would take something very advanced to make any progress in their situation. Once they heard someone walking down the passage, but even Aileen’s deafening roar could not penetrate the silence spell. Feeling hoarse and very hungry, Adelina searched her pocket for something they could eat. What she found was much more helpful than food however.
“Aileen, check this out!” She exclaimed.
“What is it?”
“One of the magic spell cards from Lady Amber’s library! I must have put it in my pocket on accident. And it has instructions on how to send a dust courier.”
“A dust what?” Asked Aileen.
“A dust courier.” Explained Adelina, as she quickly scanned the card. “A tiny, temporary messenger that alerts and delivers a message to the first fairy it sees. We can use it to get out of here!”
“No way! Let me see that!” Aileen grabbed the card, and began studying it very carefully. After a few moments, she looked up in anguish.
“Adelina, it involves alteration of fairy dust into a living being…we don’t know how to do that!”
“We can at least try. It may not be as hard as it looks and besides, I once read an article in Magic Mayhem Magazine on dust alteration.” Adelina took the card back and examined it.
“Gather one large handful of fairy dust.” She read aloud. The two sisters quickly had all the easy parts of the spell finished, leaving only the alteration from dust, to courier. Adelina held in her hand a glistening mound of fairy dust, three golden hairs from her head, and a small flake of her lustrous wing. She breathed gently on the dust, then covered the dust with her other hand. Peering over at the card while recalling the magazine article, she held her hand under the light orb made earlier, and thought hard in her mind.
“By power of dust, hair and wing,
By my breath, your life I bring!”
Adelina un-cupped her hands, and out of them sprang a glowing fairy, no taller then her finger. It flitted around the room leaving a tiny trail of dust before halting in front of Adelina.
“What message do you wish me to deliver, O creator?” inquired the courier.
“There are two young fairy girls unjustly locked in a prison cell, and they bring information of treason against their royal majesties.” Replied Adelina. “Please come and help right away, as it is a matter of utmost urgency.” The courier saluted, and dashed out of the door window and down the hallway. They two girls watched it go in anticipation.
“How long do you think it will last?” Asked Aileen.
“According to the card, its life expectancy is 15 minutes.” Replied Adelina.
“I hope it can find a fairy in time,” Worried Aileen. “15 minutes isn’t very long…” With nothing left to do but wait, they waited.

Fairy Dust, Pt 3

Adelina turned to Aileen, and mouthed, “Now what?” Aileen grabbed her hand, and started to walk along the wall. Adelina silently congratulated Aileen’s brilliance. Here they were walking inside Lady Amber’s walls! They continued through, till they came to the wall facing outside the house. Aileen rubbed her hands together, producing a small pile of dust in her transparent hands. She tossed onto the wall in front of her, and they both leapt through. Instantly, they had to spread out their wings, for they had come right outside of the tree, and were 20 feet off the ground! They landed on a small branch, and Aileen turned to Adelina.
“Adelina, can you believe it? Lady Amber is plotting treason!”
“And not only her, but those two men and 400 other fairies!”
“To think, we are servants to a traitor!” Exclaimed Aileen.
“Shh!” Cautioned Adelina. “Someone might hear you!” She looked around nervously.
“Well, are we just going to sit here and do nothing, or are we gonna’ warn the king and queen?” Asked Aileen. The both hopped up, and flew as fast as their wings could carry them to the palace at the center of the tree.
“What do you mean, we can’t see the King?!!?” Demanded Aileen. The two girls where at the palace, and trying to gain admittance to the throne room.
“I am sorry girls, but their Majesties are very busy as of now, and do not wish to be bothered with small measly matters.” Sighed the guard that was barring their entrance.
“But sir, you don’t understand! We bring matters of the utmost urgency!” Cried Adelina.
“As I said, it would be impossible to allow either of you into the palace.”
“Listen up, buddy! We just overheard a conversation about three fairies trying to take over the kingdom and possibly kill the royal children, and you don’t think the King and Queen should know about it?!?!?” bellowed Aileen. This caught the guard’s interest right away. He quickly lowered his voice.
“Treason you say, well then, you had better come with me.” He opened the gate and motioned the two girls to follow him. They did so quickly, and he led them into the palace and through several corridors.
“Sir, where are you taking us?” Inquired Adelina after several moments. They seemed to be going down into the cellars or something, and she was pretty sure that the throne room was quite a ways back.
“The King was on an inspection of the castle stairs when you came, and he should still be down here.” Replied the guard without looking at her. Adelina frowned, and looked at Aileen. She had slowed her pace, and was looking disbelievingly at her surroundings.
“Are you SURE the King is down here?” She asked.
“Quite sure, now if you ladies would just walk through this door here, I think you will find what you are looking for.” He opened up a thick wooden door, and motioned inside.
“It’s very dark in there, I don’t think that the King will be-” Adelina began to say, but she didn’t finish for the guard shoved both them inside and quickly slammed the door shut.
“Sir, what are you doing?!?” Shouted Aileen.
“Keeping you two out of the way.” Said the guard as he locked the door.
“But what about the plot to overthrow the kingdom, we need to warn the king!”
“Exactly.” Replied the guard, and they heard him walking down the corridor, whistling. Aileen grabbed the door handle and twisted it as hard as she could, but it wouldn’t budge. She turned to Adelina.
“Why on earth doesn’t he want to warn the king?” She gasped franticly. Adelina thought for a minute.
“Aileen, I think that guard might not want to warn the king…because he is going to help with the attack.”
“You mean,” whispered Aileen, “he is a traitor too?”
“That’s the only logical explanation I can think of for him locking us up. C’mon, let’s try and find a way out of here.” They both turned around, but were unable to see anything. The only light came from a small barred window on the door, leaving them in almost complete darkness. Luckily, Adelina was able to solve the problem by taking a handful of fairy dust and holding it in the weak light while concentrating very hard. The dust lit up and formed a glowing orb. The orb floated out of her hand into the air, revealing the rest of the room. It was small, dirty and damp. There was a rotting bench on the far side with a ragged blanket and a cracked pitcher next to it. Adelina gasped in horror, but Aileen just smiled. She held Adelina’s hand, and faced the door with her eyes closed. “Of course!” Adelina smiled, they were going to jump through the door, just like back at Lady Amber’s house. Her smile soon faded however, for when Aileen threw the fairy dust on the door, nothing happened. The wall didn’t shimmer, and when Aileen hesitantly pressed on the door, her hand hit hard solid oak.

What will happen to Adelina and Aileen this time?

Will they escape the room?

Will they catch the traitor?

Fairy Dust, Pt. 2

“Yikes! Lady A. is home early!” gasped Aileen. Adelina was already shoving the cards back into the folder, and cramming it into the bookshelf. The front door opened, and they heard voices coming from the hallway.
“What are we going to do?” whispered Adelina to Aileen. “We are not supposed to be in here!” Instead of answering, Aileen grabbed Adelina’s hand, and closed her eyes.
“Aileen! What are you doing?” Whispered Adelina franticly. She heard the voices coming towards the library, in a minute they would be here! Aileen opened her eyes and blew a puff of fairy dust onto the wall. She leapt into the wall, dragging Adelina after her. Adelina felt as if her entire body had dissolved into nothing, and opened her eyes. A blurry image of the library was in front of her, and she felt very peculiar. Turning her head, she saw Aileen next to her, but it was more of a shiny mirage than her actual sister. Adelina then realized what was going on; Aileen had dissolved them into the wall! She looked over at Aileen, about to congratulate her, but Aileen had a finger to her lips. She shook her head, and pointed gently in the direction of the library, for there sat Lady Amber and her guests drinking tea! Adelina quickly stifled a gasp; she hadn’t realized they were here! They seemed to be saying something, but she couldn’t hear a thing. Pausing for a minute, she shook her head, and a pile of fairy dust fell out of her ear.
“I am so glad you two gentlemen could come! We haven’t talked for quite some time.” Lady Amber’s voice rang out loud and clear into the wall.
“Indeed, there is much to talk about.” Said the fairy closest to Adelina. “But are you sure that no one else is here?” Adelina shifted uneasily; there was something sinister in the way he said that.
“Quite sure, I gave my servants plenty of time to clean up the house before we arrived, no one will be here.”
“Very well, let us begin.” Said the other fairy sitting by the door. “The King and Queen will be visiting a neighboring forest tomorrow, and a majority of the royal guards will be accompanying them, leaving the palace with little protection.” Adelina was shocked, what were they talking about? She turned to Aileen, and saw that she had turned very pale.
“Once everyone has left,” continued the fairy, “half of our followers will storm the castle with the initial attack, and the other half will sneak in from the behind while the guards are busy. They will capture anyone in the castle who resists them, and assist the first group in subduing the guards. Any questions?” The fairy paused to catch his breath, and looked round the room. Lady Amber stood up.
“Well Randolph, it sounds as if it would work, but will 400 fairies really be enough to take the castle? And what about when the King and Queen return?”
“Never worry, I have that all figured out.” Smiled Randolph. “The young prince and princess are not going on the trip, and will remain here in Pixie Palace. The King and Queen will gladly restrain from fight once their precious children are at risk…what was that?” Randolph turned sharply in the direction of the wall where Adelina and Aileen were hiding.
Adelina quickly covered her mouth, but she wasn’t fast enough. After hearing Randolph talk about the royal children that way, she couldn’t help but gasp. Frozen in fear, she grabbed Aileen’s hand, and watched as Randolph looked around the room.
“What on earth are you talking about?” Asked Lady Amber, in response to Randolph’s odd behavior.
“I thought I heard something. Are you SURE there is no one here?” Lady Amber faltered under his frosty glare. “I assure you, we are alone. And even if anyone was still here, I put up an eavesdropping spell on this room today, so that no one outside can hear anything we say.” If it hadn’t of been for the tense situation, Adelina would have laughed, they were not outside of the room, and they could hear everything! Randolph wasn’t convinced however, and he decided it would be best if they were finished talking for the night. They all rose from their chairs, and walked out of the room. Lady Amber turned off the light, and the two girls were left in semi-darkness.

Fairy Dust, Pt. 1

“Pssst! Adelina!” Adelina, who was just coming from the community kitchen with clean dishes, jumped in surprise, dropping a pile of acorn caps onto the floor. It was not common for paintings to whisper her name, even here in the enchanted forest.
“Pssssssst! Adelina, behind the painting!” Adelina frowned, and lifted a painting of Guinevere the Second off its hook. There was nothing there but the same floral wallpaper that covered the rest of the passage walls. She paused, and then blew a small puff of fairy dust onto the wall. The wall shimmered, and suddenly Aileen, Adelina’s younger sister popped out of the wall into Adelina.
“Aileen! What on earth was that for?” Adelina demanded.
“Wasn’t I great? Bet you would NEVER figure out how to do that!” Giggled Aileen.
“Aileen, focus! What were you doing in…in the wall?” Adelina sighed, fairies rarely made much sense till they had reached their teen years.
“Well, as I was dusting Lady Amber’s bookshelves, I came across a small card wedged in between two books. On it were the instructions on how to dissolve into a wall without leaving a trace. I am not very good at it yet, so I had to do it behind the painting so no one would notice till you came, is that not the coolest thing ever?” Aileen’s eyes danced with pleasure.
“Yes, very cool. You will have to show me how to do that...later. Right now, we need to finish our chores before Lady A. wrings our wings! Help me pick up these acorn caps.” The two young fairies cleaned up and hurried off down the passage till they reached the center of Pixie Palace, the largest tree in the whole forest.
Pixie Palace was home to the majority of the fairies in the enchanted forest, including the King and Queen, and all the fairy nobility. It sheltered them against the weather and any dangers that might be lurking outside. A small minority of the forest fairies chose to live on their own in the forest, and avoid living under the strict rule of the King and Queen, but most preferred to live in the safety of the tree. After their parents died, Adelina and Aileen began serving as maids for one of the more powerful fairies in Pixie Palace, Lady Amber.
“Where on earth have you lazy girls been? I am expecting company in two hours, and you two haven’t finished cleaning my apartment!” Exploded Lady Amber when Adelina and Aileen returned to at her lavish quarters. “When I come home, I will be excepting everything to be spotless. After you have finished everything, you may go home. I don’t want you around when my guests get here.” With that, Lady Amber whirled around and walked out the door to go shopping. For the next seventy-eight minutes, Adelina worked hard at scrubbing, polishing and wiping, while Aileen labored at dusting, sweeping and general tiding up. Even by using their limited magic, it was hard work cleaning up Amber’s 15 spacious rooms. Once the apartment was spick and span, they still had over half an hour before Lady Amber and her guests arrived. Given that they rarely had the house to themselves, they took the opportunity to search through her bookshelves for magic spells. After some careful examination, Aileen stumbled upon a faded folder filled with old magic spells written in messy handwriting. They both set to deciphering them.
“Let’s see…here’s one for making apple pie out of nothing at all. Looks complicated though.” Muttered Adelina after a while.
“Oh who cares about pie, I am trying to find one on mind reading.”
“Mind reading? You know only the most advanced magic will let you do that!”
“I don’t care, if I can just get the basics down, then that’s fine.”
“What would you even do with that?”
“Nothing…” Adelina gave up. Obviously Aileen had her own silly reasons, and wasn’t going to tell.
“Sisters can be a real pain.” She thought, and turned her attention back to looking through the cards. Unexpectedly, they heard a key turn in the front door.

Will they escape?
